Message from the President
Greetings!
With great pleasure, I welcome you to another wonderful year of music in the heart of North Carolina and to our 2007 concert season. This concert season celebrates ten years of providing heart-felt performances in the Triangle area. We have had a wonderful first ten years and we hope to have plenty more years performing quality concerts for our audience members. Join us this year as we celebrate our 10 year Anniversary! We look forward to sharing old favorites from the wind band repertoire as well as exciting new additions to our literature.
Formed in 1996, the North Carolina Wind Orchestra is one of the premiere wind ensembles in the Triangle area. The NCWO is composed of approximately fifty woodwind, brass and percussion players and is under the artistic direction of Michael Votta, Jr. Performing twice annually, with a program drawn primarily from original wind works, we provide a concert full of repertoire that would otherwise be unavailable in our region. The NCWO is one of a handful of professional level wind ensembles in the world and offers you a chance to hear some of the best artists in our area.
The NCWO is a musical resource for many in the Triangle area. We provide a high quality performance outlet for many music educators, offering them the kind of professional growth and renewed enthusiasm for their profession that makes them more effective educators. In addition, the NCWO has designed an educational packet which is sent to area band programs detailing the organization and the upcoming concert and includes a CD of excerpts of various selections we will be performing. Band directors then have the opportunity to use accompanying worksheets for additional instructional material.
For our wonderful and dear audience members, we offer you our talents and our music for you to enjoy. It is a wonderful time for all music in the Triangle area and we are thankful that we have your support. We are delighted to continue our performances in Meymandi Concert Hall and I hope you enjoy the concert.
Musically Yours,
Thomas W. Panepinto
